Apple was originally expected to update parts of the Mac range by the end of this year. But this is no longer the case. Instead, new models are expected in spring 2023.

In the latest issue of the “Power On” newsletter reported Mark Gurman says Apple has decided to wait until next year to announce new Macs, including the MacBook Pros that were rumored to be coming in November. Gurman writes:

Apple tests new Mac Pro with “M2 Ultra” & “M2 Extreme”

I'm told Apple plans to unveil the updated models - including M2-based versions of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros - in the first quarter of 2023.

During the latest earnings press conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple's product lineup was set before the holidays, which could indicate that there will be no new product launches this year as Apple prepares for the holiday season. As previously reported, Apple continues to test an Apple Silicon Mac Pro with a configuration that includes 24 CPU cores (including 16 performance and eight efficiency cores), 76 graphics cores, and 192GB of RAM. The Mac Pro is expected to be powered by the "M2 Ultra" and "M2 Extreme" chips, which are at least twice or four times as powerful as the M2 Max chip, which is expected to be announced alongside the updated MacBook Pros next year.
