STRASBOURG, FRANCE - JAN 11, 2018: New iMac Pro the all-in-one personal computer in Apple Computers Store. Apple claims the iMac Pro is the most powerful Mac ever made

According to a display analyst, Apple's new iMac Pro with a mini-LED display and an Apple Silicon chip will not be released in the spring, as initially expected.

Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants has now said that he no longer expects the iMac Pro to be launched in spring 2022. In another tweet explained Young said that the panels will begin shipping in June, but the Apple Silicon iMac Pro itself won't be released until August or September. Young added that the device will still use a MiniLED backlighting system but may have fewer MiniLED zones than in other Apple products such as the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. The display analyst, known for his accurate information about Apple, had previously claimed that the iMac Pro with MiniLED lighting could be released in the spring.

iMac Pro could be available starting at $2,000

According to previous rumors and reports, the new iMac Pro will be a replacement for the 27-inch iMac and a larger, more powerful counterpart to the current 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip. In early January, a rumor from @dylandkt suggested that the new iMac Pro could feature a 12-core CPU. The device could also have a similar design to the current 24-inch iMac, offer an SD card slot and an HDMI port, and start at around $2,000. The first iMac Pro was announced at WWDC 2017 and didn't hit the market until later that year. It remains unclear what availability will look like after the announcement.
