Rumors that Apple plans to use mini-LEDs on MacBook devices in the future have been circulating for many months. But the switch could happen sooner than expected.

The well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is known for his interesting predictions. He has often been spot on with them. Now he has once again commented on new MacBook models. He told investors that Apple will launch two MacBook Pros next year. models in a brand new design that uses MiniLED panels. There will also possibly be two or three new chargers. However, he did not give any concrete details. These could be positioned in the MagSafe area, for example. According to his sources, the transition to MiniLED technology will take place faster than expected. According to Kuo, an updated MacBook Air with MiniLED is also planned, but this will not be released until 2022.

What makes MiniLED technology so special?

As a reminder, MiniLED is a new form of backlighting used for LCD screens. It offers many of the same advantages as OLEDs, but can often offer higher brightness, improved energy efficiency and a lower risk of burn-in. In addition, these panels would allow for thinner and lighter product designs. For this reason, a redesign of the devices is also to be expected. In addition to MacBooks, Apple is also planning to convert the iPad range. The debut could make a brand new iPad Pro in early 2021. (Image: Apple)
