An update to the cheaper MacBook series is still pending. Now there are further indications that the cheaper model will be updated soon.
The Taiwanese analyst firm TrendForce assumes that Apple will offer a new entry-level MacBook. The company claims to have learned that Apple has decided on the MacBook Air series and will therefore continue with it. This statement contradicts, among other things, the current reports from Bloomberg, which are usually very reliable.
Agreed on the price
The new entry-level model is expected to be priced under $1,000. This is what all sources currently predict. It's also been confirmed that the new device will feature a Retina display. Furthermore, it's likely that the lower-priced MacBook series will utilize Intel's "Kaby Lake Refresh" architecture.
Presentation & Market Launch
It remains unclear whether the new MacBook will be presented in September. A presentation in October is also conceivable. Alternatively, Apple could announce the new device via a press release. The current MacBook Pro series already did this in July.
The MacBook Air was launched on January 15, 2008 by Steve Jobs at the MacWorld in San Francisco – it was then called “The world’s thinnest notebook” advertised.
