Just in time for the weekend, there is news from the rumor mill. But this time, there is a large portion of skepticism. Apple could include AirPods with the new iPhone for the first time next year.
In the past, there has often been discussion about what it would be like if Apple included AirPods with the new iPhone models. But now the whole thing could become a reality next year - ALLEGEDLY! The report comes from the controversial Digitimes - which is why a large dose of skepticism is appropriate. The Taiwanese news platform claims to have learned from an unnamed source that major smartphone sellers such as Samsung and Xiaomi want to rethink accessories in 2020. According to them, there are allegedly plans to include wireless headphones with the top models. For Samsung, it could be the Galaxy Buds. But that's not all. Apple is also said to be toying with the idea of offering the new iPhone series together with AirPods.
Hard to imagine, right?
To be honest, the whole thing is hard to imagine when you consider the price. The second generation AirPods are available in two versions - one with a normal charging case and one with a wireless charging case. These cost 179 euros and 229 euros respectively. If Apple actually made this decision, the price of a new iPhone would also rise significantly and the bundle would certainly only be intended for the premium models. Due to Digitimes' miserable hit rate, the report should be viewed with great skepticism, as mentioned above. If the rumor had been published by reliable sources such as Bloomberg or Ming-Chi Kuo, then the whole thing could definitely be taken more seriously - but for now it remains just an absurd rumor.
