iPhone 2020: New models in April, September & October

NOVA BANA, SLOVAKIA - NOV 12, 2019: New Apple iPhone 11 Pro smartphone.

NOVA BANA, SLOVAKIA - NOV 12, 2019: New Apple iPhone 11 Pro smartphone.

The rumors about new iPhone 2020 devices have died down a bit in the last few days. But now there is a new forecast.

While the new entry-level iPhone (also known as iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2) is expected this month, the iPhone 12 series consisting of four models, including a 5.4-inch, two 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch device, is due to be released in the fall. Now an analyst from the Chinese research firm GF Securities has published a new research note, which also MacRumors Analyst Jeff Pu explains that Apple's development schedule has been pushed back slightly due to travel restrictions. For this reason, not all iPhone 12 models will be released at the same time. According to Pu, the "Engineering Verification Test" phase (EVT) of the iPhone 12 series has been extended. This means that, according to his information, the "EVT" phase for the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models will last until the end of April, while the 6.7-inch device has been reserved until mid-May. As a result, the analyst currently assumes that the launch of the new iPhone 12 models will be split.

iPhone 8 successor to be released in mid-April

According to this, he expects the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch devices in September and the 6.7-inch high-end iPhone in October. Pu notes that the launch process could be similar to that in 2017 and 2018. He also has something to say about the entry-level iPhone. Accordingly, Pu also believes that Apple will introduce the iPhone 8 successor in mid-April - to be precise, sometime next week. This statement is consistent with a comment from Jon Prosser, according to which Apple plans to announce the new iPhone on April 14 or 15. Pu subsequently confirmed previous reports about the specifications. This means that he also believes that the device will appear in the iPhone 8 design and will have the A13 chip. The 4.7-inch device will therefore use Touch ID and will offer a storage capacity of up to 256 GB. However, he did not comment on the name. (Photo by HalfPoint / Bigstockphoto)
