Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported on 5G support in the iPhone 2020 models back in June. At the time, he believed that two of the three devices would have the new functionality.
Now Kuo has come back with new details and updated the June report. According to his latest information, all three iPhone 2020 models will have 5G. In addition, a fundamental redesign of the iPhone devices is planned, which will also change the display size slightly - according to the analyst. The fact that all three models will be switched to 5G in the same year is thanks to Apple's recent takeover. Intel's modem business increases Cupertino's resources significantly, so that the entry-level device can also benefit directly from it. The 2020 iPhone line-up is also expected to appear in a new design - the screens could be 6.7-inch, 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch.
2019 Generation to bridge the gap
According to Kuo's source, all three devices will have OLED displays. He emphasized that a foldable iPhone is not expected in 2020 - Apple would consider that in 2021 or 2022 at the earliest. In addition to 5G and a new device design, a 3D camera has also been discussed several times. It should now be clear that the iPhone 2019 generation is only intended to serve as a stopgap and the WOW effect will only follow next year - even if the new camera module will certainly offer advantages.
