Apple has officially started mass production of OLED screens for the iPhone 16 Pro. The new displays come from Samsung Display and LG Display.

Production of OLED screens for the iPhone 16 Pro has begun (via The Elec). Samsung Display and LG Display are the main suppliers, while BOE plays a supporting role.

approval for mass production

Earlier this month, Samsung Display and LG Display received approval to mass produce the OLED screens for the iPhone 16 Pro. This approval is crucial as it paves the way for the production and ultimately sale of the new iPhone. While Samsung Display is responsible for all four iPhone 16 models, LG Display is focusing exclusively on the Pro models.

role of suppliers

  • Samsung Display: Supplies OLED screens for all iPhone 16 models.
  • LG Display: Focuses on the Pro models and has now received approval in time after initial difficulties in the past.
  • BOE: Supports the production of OLED displays for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

Challenges and Progress

LG Display's performance is particularly notable. In the past, LG has struggled to meet Apple's production deadlines, giving Samsung an advantage. This year, however, LG Display received approval almost at the same time as Samsung Display, indicating improved production capacity and quality.

Technical improvements

The differences between the OLED displays of the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro are minimal, but worth mentioning. The Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology makes the edges of the screens even thinner, resulting in a more elegant design and offering more display area.

market launch

The entire iPhone 16 lineup is expected to launch in the fall, with Samsung Display and LG Display working to maximize production and ensure there are enough panels to meet high demand.

Preparing for the launch of the iPhone 16 series

The production of the OLED screens for the iPhone 16 is an important milestone for Apple and its suppliers. Samsung Display and LG Display play a central role and have improved their production capabilities to meet Apple's high standards. With minimal but notable technical improvements, you can look forward to an even more impressive iPhone experience. Stay tuned for the launch in the fall and be one of the first to hold the new iPhone 16 Pro in your hands. (Photo by n.tati.m / Bigstockphoto)
