Recently we reported on a forecast reportedthat Apple could ship the iPhone 12 without a charger. Now there is a new report that addresses this topic.

Reports that Apple plans to drop the EarPods and charger this year and thus only ship the iPhone 12 series with a charging cable are currently dominating the rumor mill. Now the well-known and above all accurate Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken out. He supports the statement by the analysts at Barclays that Apple plans to ship the iPhone 12 series without a charger. According to this, users will have to buy a charging adapter separately. While the Barclays analysts claim that a Lightning to USB-C cable will still be included, Kuo could not confirm the statement.

No more 5-watt and 18-watt chargers?

Therefore, it remains uncertain for the time being whether the iPhone may not be able to be released completely without accessories delivered For comparison: The Apple Watch Series 3, for example, is only delivered with the charging cable but without the adapter. This means that the Barclays analysts could be right with their forecast. Kuo also discussed the recently discovered 20-watt power adapter. According to this, the new adapter will actually be released but will not be sold in combination with the iPhone 12. This means that Apple will offer the charger separately. In addition, Kuo believes that both the 5-watt and 18-watt chargers will be discontinued in favor of the new 20-watt adapter.

New iPad models with power adapter?

In addition to the iPhone 12, Kuo also commented on the upcoming iPad series. The star analyst believes that Apple will include a charger with the 10.8-inch iPad and the 8.5-inch iPad mini, which are due to be released in the first half of 2021. If Apple decides to ship the new iPhone series without a charger but with a cable, there will certainly be complaints, but these will be limited. In our own community, for example, members are very open to the possible strategy. But if the charging cable is also eliminated, significantly more opposition is likely to be expected. The situation is different with the EarPods - they are hardly used anymore, which is why their elimination is unlikely to interest many people.
