Brand new iMac Pro: New details on features and introduction

Paris, France - Sep 24, 2021: Apple logo on the new iMac colorful 2021 versions the all-in-one personal computer in Apple Computers Store. Manufacturer claims the iMac M1 most powerful Mac ever made

Apple's next generation "iMac Pro" with a larger screen is expected to be released next spring.

The well-known display analyst Ross Young writesthat the new iMac is "expected in the spring." Apple often holds an event in the spring, so we might see the new iMac at the annual spring event. There have been rumors of an iMac with a display larger than 27 inches. However, recent information, including details from Young, suggests that Apple is keeping the 27-inch display size. The device will use a mini-LED display similar to the MacBook Pro and support ProMotion with a 120Hz refresh rate. To simplify the naming, the new iMac could be called the "iMac Pro," which would differentiate it from the 24-inch iMac and put it on par with the MacBook Pro devices.

iMac Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips

The new 27-inch iMacs are expected to use the same M1 Pro and M1 Max chips as the 2021 MacBook Pro models. There have been rumors that Apple might switch to OLED displays instead of mini-LED displays on some Macs and iPads. For this reason, Young also addresses this topic in his analysis. The analyst believes that we can expect an OLED iPad or MacBook in 2023 at the earliest. At the moment, prices for Apple's mini-LED panels are more expensive than comparable OLED panels. But the acceptance of OLED over mini-LED will depend on how quickly mini-LED prices fall. Young says that the price differences will be crucial in the "OLED vs. mini-LED battle."
