According to various reports, the Apple Watch Series 7 will have a brand new design and a slightly larger display. This will allow the screen to display even more information, leading to new watch faces.

Apple will market the two sizes of the "Apple Watch Series 7" as 41 mm and 45 mm, instead of the current 40 mm and 44 mm. According to Bloomberg, these sizes refer to the vertical dimensions of the case and not the size of the display, which will be 1.9 inches instead of 1.78 inches on the larger model. Sources have told Bloomberg confirmedthat the 45mm ‌Apple Watch Series 7‌ will have a resolution of 396 x 484 instead of 368 x 448. This means the device will have a screen that can accommodate about 16 % more pixels, allowing more complications to be displayed.

Both watches will have a smaller bezel around the display. The smaller model will see a similar jump in screen size. To match the larger screens, Apple has developed a number of new watch faces that can display more information. The watch faces include the "Modular Max," which displays the time digitally and features complications stacked across the entire length of the screen. The "Continuum" watch face changes as time passes, while the "Atlas" watch face shows the user all 24 time zones at once. Apple is also working on new Hermes and Nike watch faces that take advantage of the larger displays.

Further health functions are to follow

While the new design and display size will be the focus in 2021, Apple is planning a number of other updates on the inside for future watches. The company will also reportedly introduce new models in 2022, including an Apple Watch SE, a rugged model for athletes and a new flagship. In addition, new health features are expected to be integrated in the next few years, including a non-invasive blood sugar and blood pressure monitoring system.
