A new report focusing primarily on the coronavirus also touched on the topic of AirPods, claiming that Apple is allegedly working on a "Lite" version of the AirPods Pro.
The well-known DigiTimes has published a new report about Apple in relation to the coronavirus. The platform claims to have learned about the so-called “AirPods Pro Lite.” The report states: report:
Apple is considering shifting more assembly orders for its new models due to launch in the first half of 2020 to factories in Taiwan, mainly to diversify production risks related to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, industry sources said.
Apple, which has partnerships with supply chains in both Taiwan and China, may task its Taiwanese partners with producing the new generation of iPad, Apple Watch, AirPod Pro Lite and iMac devices scheduled to be launched at a later date, as the epidemic has increased the risk of raw material supply shortages and delivery disruptions due to the uncertain resumption of normal operations at component suppliers and assembly plants in China, the sources said.
AirPods 3 or AirPods Pro Lite?
DigiTimes left open what features these so-called "AirPods Pro Lite" will include. Currently, the platform is completely alone in making this statement. The addition of "Lite" is also confusing. Perhaps it only refers to the third generation of AirPods?! Apple only introduced the new AirPods Pro with ANC functionality in October 2019. Accordingly, no update is expected in this area in the near future. The situation would be different with the AirPods 3. Some analysts believe that Apple could actually deliver an update here. Until other sources confirm the previous statement, this topic should be treated with caution. DigiTimes often causes confusion—why not this time?! (Photo by Eremin / Bigstockphoto)
