WhatsApp is constantly evolving. While iPhone users wait for the long-awaited dark mode, another option is on the way.

A few months ago, an important feature was announced in the area of data protection. This is intended to prevent random additions to groups. Almost everyone has experienced it - you have been added to a group - often without being asked - and this is now set to stop. WhatsApp makes it possible for users to control additions to groups. This means that permission can be granted to all WhatsApp users, only "contacts" or "my contacts except...". If the user chooses the third option, they will receive a separate message with a link if they are invited and have 72 hours to decide whether to join.

How it works

The feature was originally supposed to appear much earlier - the reason for the delay is unknown. Since it is included in the current WhatsApp beta, it can be assumed that the function will soon appear in the final version of the messenger.

How it works: Open the settings within the WhatsApp application and navigate to the “Account” section. Now tap on “Privacy” and select “Groups” – see screenshots. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
