Apple surprisingly released watchOS 7.3.1 for the Apple Watch this evening.
The Apple Watch received a somewhat surprising new update today. After Apple released watchOS 7.3 about three weeks ago, a follow-up update has now been rolled out. The update can be downloaded for free via the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone. To do so, open the application and navigate to the "General" section, then "Software Update." watchOS 7.3.1 is aimed at Apple Watch Series 5 and SE models, according to Apple. The update is intended to resolve an issue that has occurred with some devices prevents charging after switching to Power Reserve mode. A Time to Walk function for Apple Fitness+ and new watch faces were added in watchOS 7.3. The ECG feature was also activated in more countries. watchOS 7.3 update description
watchOS 7.3 includes new features, improvements, and bug fixes, including:
- Unity dial inspired by the colors of the Pan-African flag; the shapes change throughout the day as you move, creating a face that is unique to you
- Time to Walk for Apple Fitness+ subscribers an audio experience in the Workout app where guests tell inspiring stories while you walk
- ECG app on Apple Watch Series 4 or later in Japan, Mayotte, Philippines and Thailand
- Irregular heart rhythm notifications in Japan, Mayotte, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand
- Fixed an issue that caused Control Center and Notification Center to be unresponsive when Zoom is enabled
