Apple has just launched the new M4 MacBook Pro, bringing the most powerful MacBook to market yet - with the longest battery life ever on a Mac. This new model is the latest in a series of Apple updates released this week and brings with it some exciting new features. In addition to battery life, there are upgrades to the chip, display and camera. Here are all the details on the new M4 MacBook Pro.

Battery life is one of the main arguments for the new M4 MacBook Pro. Apple claims that the new M4 series has the longest battery life ever built into a Mac. The MacBook Pro comes in two different screen sizes, namely 14 and 16 inches, and it is available with three different chips: the M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max. Battery life varies depending on the model and chip, but is significantly longer for all M4 variants than the M3 models from last year. Here are the official figures from Apple:

  • MacBook Pro (14-inch) with M4 chip: Up to 24 hours of battery life – this is the model with the longest battery life and is particularly suitable for users who are on the go all day.
  • MacBook Pro (14-inch) with M4 Pro or M4 Max: Up to 22 hours of battery life – ideal for more demanding tasks that require more power.
  • MacBook Pro (16-inch) with M4 Pro or M4 Max: Also up to 24 hours of battery life – especially for creative professionals who need long working hours and powerful applications.

That 24 hours of battery life is officially the longest Apple has ever offered in a Mac. Even last year's M3 models didn't have such impressive numbers. For comparison, the 14-inch model of the M3 Pro/Max MacBook Pro was rated at up to 18 hours of battery life, so you get a full four hours more with the M4 model. The 16-inch model of the M3 had a battery life of around 22 hours, so the M4 version delivers an additional two hours.

The new M4 chips: M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max

In addition to battery life, all M4 models have also improved in terms of performance. Apple uses three different chips in the M4 MacBook Pro, each optimized for different application needs:

  • M4 Chip: This chip is the most economical in the range and offers a good balance between energy efficiency and performance. It is suitable for everyday tasks such as browsing, office applications and simple multitasking.
  • M4 Pro: One level more powerful than the standard M4 and designed for users who use more demanding software, such as photo editing or more intensive multitasking.
  • M4 Max: The most powerful chip in this series, ideal for creative professionals who rely on high graphics performance and computing speed, such as video editing or 3D modeling.

The M4 chips are also more energy efficient than the M3 generation and thus contribute directly to the extended battery life. This means that the battery life is not only achieved through a larger battery but also through better use of the available energy.

Further innovations: display and camera

In addition to the battery life and the new chips, Apple has also improved the display and camera on the M4 MacBook Pro. The display is now not only brighter and more vibrant but also more efficient, which also contributes to battery life. The display delivers colors and contrasts that are ideal for photo and video editing while also ensuring that the battery is saved. The camera in the M4 MacBook Pro has also been optimized so that you have an even sharper image during video calls or online meetings. The camera should also work better than before in environments with less light. For users who often use the MacBook Pro for conferences or virtual meetings, this is definitely a practical upgrade.

The M4 MacBook Pro in a nutshell

The new M4 MacBook Pro is a noticeable development and is primarily intended for those who value long battery life, high performance and mobility. With the choice between three chips and two display sizes, Apple offers a wide range of options to adapt the MacBook Pro to your own needs. The battery life of up to 24 hours is probably the biggest advantage and a real highlight that is particularly interesting for those who are on the move a lot or want to work all day without a power outlet. The combination of energy efficiency, performance and flexibility makes the M4 MacBook Pro one of the best laptops Apple has ever developed. Are you looking for new accessories?
