With the release of iOS 18 Beta 3, Apple is bringing a number of exciting new features and improvements. From updated Dark Mode icons to an optimized Photos app and new emoji features, this beta version promises an even more user-friendly experience. Find out everything you need to know about the new features here.

The third beta version of iOS 18 clearly shows that Apple is continuously working to improve the usability and functionality of its operating systems. With each update we come one step closer to the final version, and Beta 3 gives us a promising glimpse into the future. Below you will find out what new features and improvements you can expect.

symbols in dark mode

Apple has paid special attention to dark mode in iOS 18 beta 3. Now, many third-party apps like Facebook, Etsy, Telegram, and more have special dark mode icons. These icons are automatically customized by Apple by making the secondary color the main color and turning the background black. Apps with complex icons are simply darkened, but developers can provide their own dark icons in the future.

Photos app

A welcome change in the Photos app is the new "Select" button in the main interface. This makes it easier to select photos without having to swipe down. The "Search" button has become a highlighted magnifying glass, further increasing usability.

emoji

Apple has made it much easier to manage emoji, memoji and stickers. These are now combined in a common interface that can be operated using small icons at the bottom of the screen. You can use stickers and memoji directly in messages and even create new ones. Emoji are now displayed larger so that more details are visible.

A dynamic version of the iOS 18 wallpaper is now available, which adapts to different colors depending on the time of day, providing a personalized visual experience.

flashlight interface

Flashlight controls have also been improved, with a new, larger interface allowing for more intuitive adjustment of brightness and LED flash directly from the Dynamic Island.

cards

The map icon has also been updated in dark mode and comes in new colors, improving usability in the dark.

RCS in News

The UI for RCS in Messages settings has been redesigned. Instead of a simple on/off switch, there is now a menu with additional information. RCS messages use wireless data and share cellular network IDs with carriers to provide an improved messaging experience. Read more here!

Apple Intelligence

The beta version's code contains references to new Apple Intelligence features, including Genmoji, Image Playground, Writing Tools, and Image Wand. These innovations point to increasing integration of AI in future iOS versions.
