The number of banks supporting Google Pay is currently very limited. This was also the case when it was launched in the US. How it will develop in Germany remains to be seen.

The fact is that the savings banks are currently in a tweet reject support for Google Pay. "A cooperation with Google is not an option in Germany," said the savings bank.
The same tweet also explains why this is the case, namely that the savings banks will be launching their own solution, the “Mobile Payment App”, on the market from August 2018.
So there is a solution for Android smartphones.
