The latest beta version of iOS 18.1 brings a new feature that will change the way you handle phone calls: call recording and transcription. Below, you'll learn all about this exciting new feature and how it can improve your iPhone experience.

With the introduction of iOS 18.1 beta, developers get a first glimpse of the future possibilities of the operating system. One of the features of this update is the ability to not only record phone calls but also to automatically transcribe them. This feature is made possible by Apple Intelligence, a new technology that has the potential to make the everyday lives of many iPhone users much easier. (Currently not available within the EU!)

Call recording made easy

With iOS 18.1 Beta you can easily make calls on your iPhone record. After making a call, a record button will appear in the top left corner of the screen. A simple tap on it is enough to start recording. It is important to note that all participants in the call will be informed by an audible message that the call is being recorded. There is no confirmation dialog, so people who do not want to be recorded have the option to end the call.

storage and management of records

The recorded calls are automatically saved in your iPhone's Notes app, where you can listen to them again at any time. The usability is greatly improved by the ability to get a full transcript of the conversation, allowing you to quickly and easily look up important information without having to listen to the entire call again.

Apple Intelligence and system-wide summaries

Another notable feature of iOS 18.1 is the introduction of Apple Intelligence. This technology allows you to not only transcribe calls but also create summaries of any text on the iPhone. The user can simply select a text and Apple Intelligence will generate a concise summary. This feature is available system-wide and offers a huge time saver, especially for heavy users.

Availability and future developments

Currently, Apple Intelligence is limited to the developer betas of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. However, the general public can look forward to the fall when these features are officially released. Apple is continuously working to improve its operating systems, and expect more exciting features to follow in future updates. When EU residents will be able to enjoy the new features remains to be seen. Everything related to Apple Intelligence is currently limited to the US in English only. The first iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 betas are only available for iPhones, iPads, and Macs compatible with Apple Intelligence. These include:

  • Macs with M1 chip or higher
  • iPads with M1 chip or higher
  • iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

iOS 18.1 Beta: Save time and communicate more efficiently

The iOS 18.1 beta brings a groundbreaking feature to our iPhone with call recording and transcription. This innovation, supported by Apple Intelligence, will revolutionize the way we handle phone calls and save users valuable time. By combining ease of use with advanced technology, Apple is once again setting standards and showing that innovation knows no limits. Do you need new accessories? Visit our Amazon Storefront!
