The annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) was once again a highlight for technology enthusiasts this year. With numerous announcements and exciting new features, Apple has exceeded the expectations of its users. However, not all features will be available immediately with iOS 18. Some exciting new features will only be available with iOS 18.1 or later. Below you will find out everything about the future updates and which functions you can look forward to.

The upcoming iOS 18.1 will bring numerous new features and improvements that will take your user experience to a new level. From improved Siri functions to upgrades for Apple Mail and new emojis - Apple has many exciting updates in store. But you can find out exactly which features are waiting for you and when you can expect them to be available here.

New Siri features on screen and in apps

With iOS 18.1, Siri will become even smarter and easier to use. One of the most impressive new features is on-screen context-based detection. Siri can recognize what you're doing and respond accordingly. For example, you can tell Siri to use a picture as a contact photo, and Siri will understand the context and perform the action. Additionally, Siri will have deeper knowledge of in-app features. This means you can tell Siri to play the podcast your partner sent you without manually searching the app.

Apple Mail upgrades

Apple Mail will also see significant improvements. iOS 18.1 will introduce automatic categorization of messages in the inbox. This feature will help you keep track of your emails and find important messages faster. Unlike other apps, these improvements will only be available later in the year.

Improvements to Vision Pro

The Vision Pro platform is continually being expanded and improved. The upcoming updates to visionOS 2.1 or 2.2 will introduce two key features:

  • Improved Mac Virtual Display: This popular feature allows you to enjoy an ultrawide view that offers two 4K displays side by side.
  • Multiview: Sports fans can watch up to five different games at once through the Apple TV app, with each game shown in its own view.

New emojis

With iOS 18.1, Apple will also introduce a number of new emojis. One of the most exciting additions is a new exhausted face. These new emojis will be available in late 2024 or early 2025 and will help you express your emotions even better.

Non-beta versions of Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is one of the biggest innovations in Apple software this year. While the core functions will be released as a beta version with iOS 18 in the fall, the stable versions will only be released gradually. Improvements and bug fixes will be made continuously in the weeks and months following the release in the fall. In addition, the service is not expected to support other languages, including German, in addition to English until 2025.

Transfer content between iPhone and Mac

One of the most impressive new features in macOS Sequoia is the ability to mirror your iPhone on your Mac and seamlessly transfer files and photos between the two devices. This feature will offer an even faster way than AirDrop, but we'll have to wait a little longer for it to be fully available.

Improvements to the Home app

The Home app in iOS 18 is also getting some exciting upgrades. Key features coming later this year include support for robot vacuums and the ability to monitor your home's power usage right in the app.

Future-oriented features in the upcoming iOS 18.1

With iOS 18.1 and the updates that follow, we can expect many exciting new features and improvements. From smarter Siri interactions to enhanced mail features to new emojis and improved device sharing options, Apple has many new features in store that will further improve the user experience. Stay tuned to not miss any of these exciting updates and look forward to an even smarter and more efficient iOS experience. Are you looking for new accessories?
