The repair company iFixit has now carried out a teardown of the new Mac Studio. This shows Apple's complicated cooling system for the high-performance system and how to take the device apart.

As with other devices, iFixit has performed an initial teardown of Apple's latest device, the Mac Studio. The goal is to find out whether the device can be repaired or not. At a later date, iFixit will create a written and illustrated guide detailing how to disassemble a Mac Studio for repairs. Until then, here's a quick video overview of the Mac's components. The cooling system takes up about half of the Mac's interior. The most noticeable part is the aluminum heatsink in the M1 Max version and the copper cooling module in the M1 Ultra edition. In the video The slotted memory in Mac Studio is also discussed.

Mac Studio: 6 out of 10 points for repairability

The company was able to swap out the flash modules to match, but had no success inserting a larger or smaller one. A teardown of the Studio display was also teased. The company noted that it not only looks like an iMac, but can also be disassembled in the same way. The Mac Studio was rated 6 out of 10 for repairability. The ability to repair may become more of an issue as Apple plans to introduce its Self Service Repair program for M1 Macs and iPhones. The program, which was announced five months ago, is not yet known in detail. (Image: Apple)
