Official sales start on September 21st. Less than a week after the keynote, Apple distributed the first test devices to selected press representatives worldwide. Now there are the first statements about the camera, battery life and performance.

The devices have been officially available for pre-order since September 14th. Like its predecessor, the iPhone Xs has a 5.8" display diagonal. The iPhone Xs Max is the big brother. The device has a 6.5" display.

The camera

This year, the dual camera is being introduced on all premium iPhones. Both the iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Max can take photos with the popular camera. Once again, both lenses have a 12MP resolution, but the flash has been improved. The support of the A12 Bionic improves image calculation and analysis. This guarantees even better photos. Videos can also be recorded in 4K at up to 60 frames per second - recordings in stereo sound are now possible.

According to the testers, the camera's performance is excellent. The images are far better than those of the regular iPhone X.

Battery life

Apple promises a better battery life. The iPhone Xs should last half an hour longer than the iPhone X. The iPhone Xs Max should even last 1.5 hours longer. The testers are more than satisfied. Apple has understated this. The battery of the iPhone Xs Max should last a whole day with intensive use.

performance

The A12 chip contains an additional chip. Apple calls this the "Neutral Engine" - it was already installed in the iPhone X. According to the iGroup, this additional chip is the star of the current generation. According to initial tests, the "Neutral Engine" is a full 900 percent faster. This can be felt in all applications that support machine learning. Developers therefore have a lot of room for improvement.

The Xs generation is currently receiving a lot of praise, but some of the international press representatives are pointing to the iPhone Xr. The device should therefore also be considered very interesting.

Apple devices here aren't test units for a fortnight but everyday tools: from the iPhone to the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac through to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it goes live.
