Mac, iPhone and iPad will receive the “Freeform” tool for brainstorming sessions, which allows multiple users to work on shared documents and files at the same time.

Freeform is a brand new app coming later this year for macOS Ventura, iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 that acts as a multi-user collaboration tool, similar to a graphical version of Google Docs. Elizabeth Reid, Senior Engineer Applications, explains:

Freeform Collaboration: Apple's brand new app to be released later this year

There are so many great ways to collaborate, but until now there was no place to work as a group to plan projects, do home renovations, or do school projects. Now you can FaceTime and with a tap you're all collaborating live on a Freeform board. You can add almost anything to a board. It's perfect for brainstorming sessions, taking notes, sharing files, or even creating diagrams. When others add their thoughts, you can see their cursor, showing you where they're working. And if someone is in a different part of Freeform, you can tap to jump right to where they are on the board.

Freeform lets users sketch on the iPad with the Apple Pencil or add "photos, videos, audio documents, PDFs, and web links" on one of the other platforms. Apple says Freeform will be "integrated directly into iPadOS, macOS, and iOS later this year." (Image: Apple)
