iPad mini 6 reviews: The perfect combination of size & performance

After the first reviews of the iPhone 13 series were published yesterday, the first reviews of the iPad mini 6 are now following. Below is an overview.

The iPad mini 6 comes in a brand new design and has significantly more power than you would expect from the small tablet. The device has an almost edgeless display, with Touch ID in the standby switch. The heart of it is Apple's brand new A15 chip. It is supposed to be the perfect combination of size and performance. writes Federico Viticci, of MacStories, says the iPad mini 6 is a joy to use on a daily basis.

Having extensively tested both the iPad Air and the new iPad mini, I can confidently say that while the iPad Air is a more portable and comfortable tablet than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, it's not nearly as portable or comfortable as the new iPad mini if you want a device you can always hold in your hand. And perhaps more importantly, while you can use the iPad Air as a portable tablet, I believe the new mini is a more pleasant experience for the things a tablet does best - reading, watching videos, browsing the web, and playing games.

CNN underlines the advantages of the Center Stage camera, which is now also available in the iPad mini.

It also includes the CenterStage feature, which makes iPad mini a perfect device for video calling and capturing content. During a FaceTime or video call, your face stays in the frame and zooms in a little. If you get up to move around or get a drink, it pans and moves to keep you in the frame.

iPad mini 6: Available from 549 euros

But CNBC points on some design flaws of the new iPad mini:

The volume buttons take some getting used to. They are on top when you hold the tablet in portrait mode, rather than on the side like on other iPads. The same goes for Face ID. This is currently only available on Apple's Pro iPads, but it's so useful that I'd like to see it on the iPad mini. Instead, Apple has integrated a fingerprint sensor into the standby button on the side of the iPad.

On the whole, the test reports are very positive. So if you are looking for a small iPad, the mini version should definitely be a good choice. The iPad mini will be available in 28 countries from Friday, September 24th, with storage capacities of 64 GB and 256 GB. It will be available in pink, starlight, purple and space gray. The starting price is 549 euros for 64 GB with WiFi, while the WiFi + Cellular models are available from 719 euros. (Image: Apple)
