Yesterday, some iOS users noticed that the iCloud sharing links to their shortcuts were no longer working, and instead, they were seeing an error message saying "Shortcut not found." Now, Apple has commented on the issue.
For people who have built archives of hundreds of shortcuts online, this is quite worrying. Here again the Memory:
Shortcuts users on iOS are reporting serious issues with previously shared link collections. Any Shortcut sharing link that was not created in the last few days fails with the error message "Shortcut not found."
Apple did not respond immediately, which is why there was a lot of speculation yesterday. But now the company has spoken to Federico Viticci of MacStories and explained problems with sharing confirmedThe statement states:
iOS Shortcuts: Is the outage related to a change in the backend?
We are aware of an issue where previously released shortcuts are currently unavailable. Newly released shortcuts are available and we are working to restore previously released shortcuts as quickly as possible.
The announcement doesn't specify when shared shortcuts will be "available" again. However, the statement should allay concerns that previously shared shortcuts will never work again. Last week, the Shortcuts Gallery crashed for about a day. However, the recovery reportedly worked without issues. Now, it's suspected that the current outage was caused by a backend change.
