With the second beta version of iOS 18.4, Apple is expanding the availability of Visual Intelligence to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Previously, this feature was only available for the iPhone 16 models, but now users of older devices can also benefit from it. The expansion of this intelligent camera function opens up new possibilities for dealing with visual information.

In recent years, Apple has increasingly relied on artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve the user experience. One of the latest innovations is Visual Intelligence, a feature that turns the iPhone into a powerful tool for recognizing, analyzing and interpreting objects, text and places. With the launch of iOS 18.4, this technology is now being extended to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

Visual Intelligence now also for the iPhone 15 Pro

With the second beta version of iOS 18.4 receive the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max support Visual Intelligence. This feature was originally only intended for the iPhone 16 series, but Apple has decided to extend its availability to older, powerful devices. The prerequisite for use is support for Apple Intelligence, the company's new AI system. Visual Intelligence is already an integral part of the system on the iPhone 16 models. But while the iPhone 16 has its own camera control button that can be used for this function, this button is not available on the iPhone 15 Pro. That's why Apple offers alternative ways to activate the function.

Enabling Visual Intelligence on the iPhone 15 Pro

Since the iPhone 15 Pro does not have a dedicated camera control button, Visual Intelligence can instead be activated via the action button or a new option in the Control Center. iOS 18.4 brings new setting options for this:

  • The action key can now be assigned Visual Intelligence
  • The Control Center includes new buttons for quick activation

These changes are based on the solution that Apple already introduced with the iPhone 16e. This model also supports Visual Intelligence, but also does not have a camera control button.

What can Visual Intelligence do?

Visual Intelligence uses the iPhone's camera to perform various tasks. This feature allows users to:

  • Capture, summarize and translate texts
  • Have texts read aloud
  • Identify objects and places
  • Ask Google or ChatGPT for more information about objects or places

This extension makes the iPhone a versatile tool that can be used not only for photography and video recording, but also serves as an intelligent assistant for everyday life.

Apple expands Visual Intelligence: Now also available for the iPhone 15 Pro

With iOS 18.4, Apple is expanding the availability of Visual Intelligence and making the function available for the first time on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Users of these devices can activate the AI-supported camera function via the action button or the control center. The new function makes it possible to capture text, recognize objects and retrieve information directly from various sources. This innovation makes the iPhone's camera even more useful not only for photos and videos, but also for intelligent analysis.
