The latest iOS version, iOS 17.4 beta, recently saw the light of day and it brings with it some exciting new features. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the new emoji characters introduced in this beta. From a refreshing lime to directional person emoji, iOS 17.4 has a lot to offer.

The constant evolution of iOS, the operating system for Apple's iPhone devices, ensures that users are always provided with new features and improvements. With the launch of iOS 17.4 beta, users can look forward to a variety of new emoji characters that will make their communication even more lively and expressive. But that's not all this update has to offer. It also brings some useful updates to person emoji that make it easier to express yourself in text messages. The iOS 17.4 beta, which was released recently, has brought with it a collection of new emoji characters that will enrich the user experience on Apple devices. The most notable new additions include a lime, an edible brown mushroom, a majestic phoenix, a broken chain, and vertical and horizontal head shakes.

iOS 17.4 contains new emojis

These new emoji characters are part of the Unicode 15.1 update approved in September 2023. This expands emoji diversity and allows users to express their feelings and thoughts in an even more precise way. For example, the lime could symbolize your love for refreshing drinks while the phoenix can represent rebirth and new beginnings. But that's not all. The update also includes four new family emoji combinations that promote diversity and inclusivity. In addition, six person emoji have been updated to add directional options such as "right" or "left." These directional options can be used for different activities such as walking, running, kneeling, as well as for people with special needs such as a person with a white cane or in a manual or motorized wheelchair. This shows Apple's commitment to inclusive and diverse communication. (Photo by Unsplash / Denis Cherkashin)
