There are always exciting developments in the world of mobile operating systems and music streaming services. One of the hot topics is iOS 17.2, which was recently released as a release candidate version. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the changes that this update has brought. Of particular interest is the fact that Apple Music's collaborative playlists are not available in iOS 17.2. We'll explore why this is the case and what new features are introduced instead.

Apple Music's collaborative playlists are one of the music service's most requested features. They allow users to share their favorite songs with friends and create or edit playlists together. This feature was originally supposed to be introduced with iOS 17.2 but it was recently removed from the beta version and is not included in the final release. What is behind this decision?

Reasons for the lack of collaborative playlists

A closer look at the reasons for the absence of this feature in iOS 17.2 shows that Apple had to deal with challenges. Abuse and spam were the main concerns. The code written by 9to5Mac analyzed suggests that Apple temporarily removed the feature to work on improved security measures, including limiting the number of pending requests a playlist owner can receive. While it's disappointing that collaborative playlists aren't available for now, it also shows that Apple takes the security and quality of its services seriously.

New features of Apple Music in iOS 17.2

Despite the lack of collaborative playlists, iOS 17.2 brings some other exciting new features to Apple Music. One of them is the "Favorites" playlist, which allows users to quickly return to the songs they have marked as favorites. Another interesting feature is the ability to disable listening history when focus is enabled. This means that songs you have listened to will not appear in the "Recently Listened" list and will not affect recommendations. These new features are designed to improve the music experience on Apple Music.

The last major update in 2023

Although Apple Music's collaborative playlists are not available in iOS 17.2 for now, it shows that Apple prioritizes the security and quality of its services. The new features in Apple Music still offer users exciting ways to enjoy their favorite music. iOS 17.2 may be the last major update of this year, but iOS 17.3 is already in the starting blocks and will bring exciting new features next year. Apple remains committed to providing its users with the best possible experience. Are you looking for new accessories?
