Apple officially rolled out iOS 15 and other features to all users on Monday evening. Now, reports are mounting that AirTags stored in "Find My" are no longer visible. Let's take a closer look.
A bug in iOS 15 appears to be removing AirTags or preventing them from appearing in the Find My app. Some users report being able to add the AirTag again after resetting their device to factory settings. In fact, these cases are increasing. reports in various forums – including our own community. My recommendation to you: Once you've installed iOS 15, open "Find My" and make sure your AirTags are still visible in the app. I can't confirm the issue myself, but that doesn't mean anything.
Help, my AirTags are gone
But what do you do if they're actually gone? Assuming your AirTags are missing, here's what you need to do. Each missing AirTag must be reset to factory settings. Only then can you add it back to "Find My." You can learn how to do this in my tip. Just a word up front: It's a nasty process, after all, I've tried it myself.
How widespread the problem actually is remains to be seen. Based on current knowledge, it can affect anyone. A pattern isn't discernible, except for the fact that iOS 15 is required. Regardless, anyone who has the new operating system installed should definitely check their "Find My" app. Apple has since released the first preview of iOS 15.1. However, iOS 15.0.1 could be released by the time the new version is available to everyone—we know Apple, after all. The patch could resolve this issue and fix another bug related to incorrect storage reports. Are you looking for suitable AirTag cases? Then take a look at Amazon.
