iOS 14: Youtube limits PiP function to premium subscription

In iOS 14, Apple has integrated the so-called picture-in-picture function. While some applications provide the whole thing for free, YouTube wants to limit the function only to premium users.

With iOS 14 supports The iPhone introduced the use of the Picture-in-Picture feature for the first time. This handy feature allows users to simultaneously watch video content, make FaceTime calls, and more while running other apps. Video playback is a major use case for the PiP feature, and YouTube is arguably the busiest destination for online content. But Google seems to want to profit from this. While the feature can still be used for free on the iPad (at least via Safari), the iPhone version of the YouTube app restricts PiP to YouTube Premium subscribers. 

Youtube: 4K resolution under tvOS 14 will be added later

As a reminder: The detour via Safari on the iPhone was also possible, but Google seems to have closed this gap, as other websites continue to support the feature. So it looks as if Google only wants to provide the feature to premium subscribers. In addition to the PiP issue, Apple TV 4K users are also wondering why YouTube is only available in 1080p. After all, 4K support was available during the tvOS 14 beta. One reason for the absence in the final Version The company did not name the new Apple TV operating system.
