Apple announced iOS 14, iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, watchOS 7 and macOS Big Sur at WWDC 2020 presentedNow, more features have been discovered in iOS 14.

iOS 14 is currently available as a beta to registered developers - I also enjoy the widgets and co. We will probably read more articles like this in the next few days. As soon as all, really all, new features are confirmed, I will of course summarize everything separately. But now let's get to the most recent discoveries. These are minor changes or new features that are available on both iPhone and iPad - let's get started!

iMessage, privacy & more

emoji search – iOS 14 now has a button similar to the macOS version that allows you to search for specific emojis.

iMessage – There are also a few very important improvements in Apple's Messenger, including the ability to respond directly to certain messages. This means that users - whether in a group or solo chat - can respond directly to certain comments. Anyone who uses WhatsApp or Telegram should know about this feature. In addition, individual users can now be mentioned directly via @ in groups.

Data protection for photos – When apps in iOS 14 request access to the Photos app, users can now grant access to selected photos instead of the entire photo library.

Data protection in the local network – Apps in iOS 14 must ask for permission to find and connect to devices on the local network.

redesign in Apple Music - The Apple Music app interface has been redesigned to include a Listen Now feature. The bottom navigation menu includes tabs for Browse, Radio, Library, and Search, with the For You option replaced by Listen Now.

health checklist, notes & photos

exposure correction in the camera - There's a new Exposure Compensation control in Photos that lets users lock an exposure value while locking camera focus separately. Apple said that taking photos is also faster, with a faster time to first shot and faster shot-to-shot performance.

health checklist – A health checklist in the Health app allows users to manage health and safety information in one place, with new data types added for mobility, health data, symptoms, and ECG.

notes – Thanks to on-device intelligence, searching in the Notes app has become faster – users can also capture sharper document scans.

photos – Photos can be organized with new filtering and sorting options. Navigation with pinch and zoom gestures has also been simplified.

iOS 14 enables third-party standard apps

Memories - There's a new quick entry option for the Reminders app, as well as smart suggestions to capture new reminders faster. Members of shared lists can also assign reminders to each other to make it easier to divide tasks.

standard third-party apps – Third-party mail and browser apps can be set as default in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 – thanks Apple!

voice notes – There is a new Enhance Recording feature that allows users to improve the sound quality of their recordings with a tap, as well as new organizational options.

Weather – The Weather app provides information about severe weather events and upcoming weather changes. In the US, there is also a table with a minute-by-minute forecast of precipitation intensity, which appears to use the functionality of Dark Sky – an app – that Apple recently bought. When the feature will be introduced in other countries remains unclear.

As already explained above, more functions will certainly be discovered in the next few hours and days. As soon as they are all known, I will list all the new features in a separate article.
