iOS 14.1: Apple stops signing iOS 14.0.1

iOS 14.1

Alanya, Turkey - July 10, 2020: Woman hand holding iPhone 11 with home screen IOS 14 on the screen. iPhone 11 was created and developed by the Apple inc.

Apple released iOS 14.1 to all users about a week ago. Now the company has stopped signing iOS 14.0.1.

When Apple stops signing an iOS version, it means that users are no longer able to upgrade to the previous version via PC or Mac. Like other iOS updates, iOS 14.1 brings a number of security improvements by fixing various vulnerabilities. Such security holes make devices vulnerable and also enable jailbreaking. For this reason, Apple will stop signing older iOS versions in a timely manner. With iOS 14.1, users also get support for the new HomePod mini and other improvements in the Home app. In addition, bugs have been fixed and performance improved in this version, including problems with widgets, emails and more. Below you will find the full update description in full.

iOS 14.1 update description:

iOS 14.1 includes improvements and bug fixes for your iPhone.

  • Support for playback and editing of 10-bit HDR videos in the Photos app for iPhone 8 and later models
  • Fixed an issue that caused some widgets, folders, and icons on the Home screen to appear minimized
  • Fixed an issue where moving widgets on the Home screen could cause apps to be removed from folders
  • Fixed an issue where some emails in the Mail app were sent from an incorrect alias
  • Fixed an issue where incoming calls sometimes did not display region information
  • Fixed an issue where, on some devices, the emergency button on the lock screen could be overlaid by the text input field when a zoomed view and an alphanumeric code were selected
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented some users from loading or adding songs to their library when viewing an album or playlist
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused zeros to not be displayed in the Calculator app
  • Fixed an issue where video streaming resolution was temporarily reduced at the start of playback
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some users from configuring an Apple Watch for a family member
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Apple Watch case material to display incorrectly in the Apple Watch app
  • Fixed an issue in the Files app where some MDM cloud service providers incorrectly displayed content as unavailable
  • Improved compatibility with Ubiquiti wireless access points

Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices. For more information about the security aspects of Apple software updates, see Apple security updates. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
