The Instagram app debuted in the App Store in October 2010 – the social media service is still very popular today. But there is still no iPad app. Instagram boss Adam Mosseri explains why this is the case on Twitter.
Many iPhone users have been wanting a native Instagram app for the iPad for years. But the Facebook subsidiary has not yet released a suitable tablet version of the popular application. Now Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has explained the reason. Mosseri was asked on Twitter why there is still no iPad application available. He was surprisingly open and explained:
We would love to develop an iPad app but we don't have enough people and so much to do. Besides that, there are more interesting tasks at the moment.
“Direct messages are important”
According to this, Instagram seems to be working on more lucrative projects than an iPad app. The fact that Instagram has a small team is nothing new – but the openness is a bit surprising. But one user would not let up and asked Mosseri why the company had the feature direct messages on the web preferring an iPad app. The Instagram boss explained that "direct messages are important" for users to connect with each other on the web. At the same time, the response should not be considered a rejection. This means there's still a chance of getting Instagram on the iPad, but when that will happen remains to be seen.
