Samsung has announced the foldable Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G with a more robust design and 120Hz displays.

You know - once a year you get to take a look at the competition. Below we look at what Samsung will be entering the race with this year. So much for now - this year it will be foldable too. Samsung's ultra-premium foldables are also undergoing slight design changes this year to keep up with the Galaxy flagship lineup. The edges of the two devices are flatter and have a really large hinge. Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, at Samsung Electronics explains:

With the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3, Samsung is once again redefining the possibilities of foldable smartphones, giving users the flexibility and versatility they need in today's fast-paced world. As a pioneer and industry leader in the foldable category, we are proud to build on our legacy of innovation with the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3. These devices equip consumers with technologies that give them new ways to maximize and enjoy every moment - with an ecosystem built on openness and innovation.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G now has a slimmer camera bump, but apart from the flat edges, it is almost identical to its predecessor. The device uses the 64-bit octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 2.84GHz. The inner display is a 7.6-inch Infinity Flex Display with S Pen support. It offers 374ppi with an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz and is 29 percent brighter. The cover screen is a 6.2-inch display with 387ppi and also has the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Thanks to the new, more durable design, it has an IPX8 waterproof rating. Samsung has also installed Gorilla Glass Victus for improved protection against scratches and drops. The device is available in three colors: Phantom Black, Phantom Green and Phantom Silver.

The flat edges and vertical camera bump provide an improved but also modern design. The inner display is a 6.7-inch Infinity Flex Display. It has 425ppi and has an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz. The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G uses the 5nm 64-bit octa-core processor. Like the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, it has a maximum clock speed of 2.84GHz. In terms of color options, four versions are available from partners: Cream, Green, Lavender and Phantom Black. Samsung itself only offers the device in gray, pink and white on its website.

Prices and availability

While the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is available from 1,049.00 euros, the starting price for the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is 1,799.99 euros. In terms of the scope of delivery, Samsung is following Apple's example. We remember - Samsung originally made fun of Apple's decision to omit the power adapter. Accordingly, the Korean smartphone manufacturer also applies the same rule - if you already have a power adapter, you can use it or purchase a new one separately. pre-orders will be accepted starting today.
