WhatsApp users on iOS and Android now have access to the new "Expiring Messages" feature. The feature is expected to be available worldwide by the end of the month.
Users can from now on the feature Enable "Expiring Messages" in WhatsApp individual chats so that your sent messages are automatically deleted after about seven days. The feature is also available in groups, but it can only be enabled or disabled by administrators. According to the company, the feature could be revised in the future and expanded with different time limits. explained a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch:
WhatsApp: “Implementation of the feature has been delayed”
We'll keep an eye on feedback on how people use it and how they like it, and see if it needs to be adjusted in the future. Right now we're starting with seven days because it feels like a nice balance between the utility you need for global text-based conversations and the feeling that things won't stay this way forever.
According to WhatsApp, the implementation of the feature was delayed due to end-to-end encryption. There are now indications that the social media giant plans to integrate the feature into its own Facebook Messenger. In addition to "Expiring Messages," an improved storage management method has also been provided. Have you already discovered the early Black Friday offers on Amazon? It's worth being quick.
