OpenAI is once again expanding ChatGPT with practical features – this time specifically for Mac users. The Mac app is now receiving two important enhancements: a new recording mode for meetings and direct integration with various cloud services. This makes OpenAI particularly suitable for teams, small businesses, and educational institutions that want to use ChatGPT in their daily work.
Many people already use ChatGPT for quick replies or creative text ideas. But with these new features, it's now about more: concrete support in everyday work. Whether it's meeting notes or access to files in Google Drive or Dropbox, ChatGPT aims to position itself as a true assistant for productivity and collaboration. Above all, it does so without relying on complex tools or technical workarounds.
Meeting recording mode
Users with Team, Enterprise, or Edu accounts using the ChatGPT app on Mac will now see a new button next to the regular input tools. Pressing this button opens a widget that automatically begins recording audio. At the same time, the spoken word is transcribed. This transcription is immediately converted into structured notes, including general summaries, key points, open questions, to-dos, and other outlines.
- What's special about ChatGPT is that, unlike meeting bots from other providers like Zoom or Notion, ChatGPT doesn't require an invite as a participant. The app simply listens in on the device – without any additional software or complicated setup.
Direct access to cloud files
Also new is the ability to connect ChatGPT to your cloud services. Supported services include Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, and SharePoint. Once connected, you can ask questions about your own files – directly from the chat.
- For example: “What was our turnover last year?” or “How many times was the term maritime transport mentioned in the last travel report?” ChatGPT searches the linked documents, understands the context, and provides a structured answer – including quotes and references from the files.
- Please note: OpenAI does not train ChatGPT with data from team, edu, or enterprise accounts, nor with content from linked cloud files. Access is granted only for the purpose of processing the request. Existing file permissions are fully respected.
Further integrations with popular tools
In addition to the cloud services, the update also brings new connectors, allowing you to integrate ChatGPT even more broadly into your work environment. New features include:
- Gmail
- Google Calendar
- Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
- Outlook (calendar and email)
- HubSpot
- Linear
- GitHub
- Microsoft Teams
These connections allow you to create research reports or project documents, for example, using OpenAI's Canvas tool – combining internal and external data sources. Additionally, ChatGPT now supports Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP), further expanding compatibility. Services like Replit, Atlassian, Cloudflare, and Zapier now also rely on this protocol. This will make it possible to connect even more tools with ChatGPT in the future and automate key processes.
From chatbot to work partner: ChatGPT's next level
With the new features for the Mac app, ChatGPT continues to evolve into a comprehensive work assistant. Recording mode makes meetings more efficient, and cloud integration saves time searching for information. Combined with new connectors and protocols, ChatGPT becomes even more useful for many workspaces—especially for teams, companies, and educational institutions that want to increase productivity without giving up their data.
