The so-called "Original Apple Watch," the first of its kind, was first introduced in September 2014. Apple has now officially classified it as a "vintage" product. The company has also added two MacBook Pro models to the list.
The original Apple Watch, introduced in 2014 and released in 2015, is now officially considered a "vintage" product, according to Apple. As a reminder, the vintage list includes devices that haven't been sold for more than five but less than seven years, while the discontinued products list includes devices that were discontinued more than seven years ago.
Original Apple Watch: Place on the vintage list was a matter of time
Devices on the Vintage List can still receive hardware service from Apple and certified service partners, subject to the availability of repair components and where required by law. However, hardware service is no longer available for discontinued products. Today's update to the "Vintage" list added the first Apple Watch model. The seventh generation of the popular smartwatch has now been introduced (not yet available), so it was only a matter of time before Apple classified the original model as "Vintage."
