As announced last week, watchOS 6 was released this evening for Apple Watch Series 3 and Series 4 users.
Owners of an Apple Watch Series 3 and Series 4 can now download the new watchOS 6 as usual via the Apple Watch app on the iPhone. The Apple Watch has a new shine under watchOS 6. On the way to greater independence from the iPhone, the Apple Watch is getting its own app store for the first time. This will be available as a standalone app on the popular smartwatch. Search queries can be controlled by Siri. There will also be individual app recommendations. watchOS apps will also become more independent of the iPhone itself - in the future, they will no longer need to have an iOS counterpart. We will show you how you can manage your applications on the Apple Watch here.
The health sector is being expanded
Apple itself provides applications for voice notes, audio live streams and a calculator. The Health app is also being expanded under watchOS 6. The Apple Watch can now track the menstrual cycle. Users will receive a discreet notification when their period starts. Menstrual cycle tracking will also be available without an Apple Watch - the feature will therefore be included in the Health app of iOS 13. The Activities app is getting a new function called Activity Trends, which allows you to compare your own progress over time with the past.
Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2 owners have to be patient
The new Noise app uses the Apple Watch microphone to monitor ambient noise - users receive a notification if the decibel level is too high. Apple emphasizes that no audio files are recorded or stored to protect your privacy. There are also, of course, new watch faces and complications.
Among other things, a new infograph or a solar watch can be selected - there is also an audio book complication. Users of an Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2 will receive the new operating system at a later date - but it will have fewer features. It is not yet known when exactly the update will be released. Apple only announced fall 2019 as the release period. Advertisement: The Apple Watch Series 5 is available from 449 euros from Apple or optionally from Amazon can be purchased.
