Apple's M1 processor in many cases outperforms the graphics performance of desktop GPUs, including the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 560.

According to Apple, the M1 chip's octa-core graphics processor can process almost 25,000 threads simultaneously and deliver a throughput of up to 2.6 TFLOPS. This is the same TFLOPS value that the Radeon RX 560 achieves. However, it is just below the 2.9 TFLOPS of the GeForce GTX 1650. Now the blog Tom's Hardware has done some tests and found interesting results submittedThe GFXBench 5.0 benchmarks were tested under Apple's Metal API and show that the M1 chip often performs quite a bit better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 560.

Apple M1 chip: The performance is impressive

There is no Metal benchmark for the GeForce GTX 1650 for comparison yet. It should be noted that the GFXBench 5.0 benchmarks are primarily used for testing mobile devices, and the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and Radeon RX 560 are older GPUs. Nonetheless, the Apple M1 chip offers remarkable graphics performance. The fact that it can outperform 75W desktop graphics cards is nothing short of impressive. More detailed GPU comparisons will likely appear soon. The first M1 Macs are expected to start shipping from Apple after this week.
