Netflix today announced the official launch of its “Netflix Games” feature, which allows Netflix users to play a handful of games on their mobile devices.
Currently, Netflix makes the games available for Android users, but iOS support is "on the way," according to the company. Netflix says it's just getting started, but the goal is to build a game library that "has something for everyone." Games available today include Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Card Blast, and Teeter Up. Accessing games through Netflix requires a regular Netflix subscription, but there are no ads included. There are also no additional fees or in-app purchases. Essentially, the service follows the same policy as Apple Arcade already does.
Netflix Games: When will iOS users be able to access the service?
Android users will see a separate games row and a games tab in the Netflix app and can download game titles there and then play them. It is currently unknown how Netflix Games will work for iOS. The streaming service could offer a kind of catalog app or integrate a catalog into the main application to link to individual games in the App Store.
Alternatively, Netflix can also use a web-based solution, with the games then being streamed. Netflix will own statements will continue to improve the mobile gaming experience in the coming months. However, it remains to be seen when iOS users will be able to enjoy it. (Image: Netflix)
