GameOn, Amazon's mobile gameplay recording platform, is now available for iPhone and iPad. The app allows players to record video clips from a range of mobile titles that support screen recording and share them on the platform or other websites.
Twitch is owned by Amazon. The service is one of the largest gameplay streaming platforms on the market. However, Twitch offers long videos that can last for hours while GameOn allows players to record short video clips ranging from 30 seconds to five minutes in length. As reported by TechCrunch noted, the two streaming platforms are completely separate from each other, using separate branding and different channels. Amazon has partnered with GameOn streamers to focus entirely on mobile gaming while addressing the unique challenges of app to promote.
Amazon GameOn compatible with over a thousand mobile titles
GameOn allows users to edit videos to add commentary or record a stream of their own face during gameplay using the front-facing camera on their iPhone or iPad. There's also a recall recording feature that allows players to record the last 30 seconds or up to two minutes of action. The clip capture platform is compatible with over a thousand mobile titles, including PUBG Mobile and various games from Playrix, Square Enix, Rovio, and Storm8 Studios. Amazon GameOn went live in November 2020 but was limited to the Android platform. The late iOS debut is likely due to Amazon having to comply with Apple's stricter App Store guidelines regarding screen recordings. Anyone interested in testing the app can find it here. As it's currently being rolled out, it may not be available to every user immediately. (Image: Amazon)
