This evening, Apple gave the first users access to its new gaming service Apple Arcade.
The new Apple Arcade service is scheduled to be officially available to all users on September 19th – the same day iOS 13, among other releases, will be released. But now Apple seems to have opted for a pre-launch. Some users are reporting that they can already subscribe to Apple Arcade – however, this appears to require the latest iOS 13.1 beta or iOS 13 Golden Master. The lucky ones include not only registered developers but also voluntary beta testers – but so far this does not seem to be the case across the board. If you are one of the chosen few, you should see a new button called “Try Free” in the App Store under Apple Arcade. Once you have completed the registration process, you can start searching for new games.
The games are divided into different categories - similar to the App Store. Once you have decided on a title, you can download it directly. Whether you have an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV - participating games have no advertising or in-app purchases. The game status is saved in the iCloud and synchronized with other devices - a seamless transition is thus guaranteed. Apple Arcade will be available in over 150 countries from September 19th. The gaming service can be subscribed to for 4.99 euros - a free trial month and family sharing are also included. (Image: Apple)
