In about two months, Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 series. Now, new renderings have emerged showing the design of the iPhone 17 Pro. Particularly striking are a new material mix and an unusual placement of the Apple logo. The images come from leaker Majin Bu and provide more clarity than previous reports.
Rumors and initial hints about the upcoming iPhone generation have been circulating for months. Now a new image is attracting attention: It shows the iPhone 17 Pro with a split case and an Apple logo that is no longer exactly centered on the back. Instead, it is centered on a glass element. The authenticity of the leak has since been confirmed by a second well-known leaker, Sonny Dickson. This adds to the evidence that Apple is indeed tweaking the design of the iPhone 17 Pro.
New aluminum housing
Apple is apparently changing the material for the iPhone 17 Pro. Instead of using titanium as before, the casing—more specifically, the frame and camera unit—will be made entirely of aluminum. This is a rather unusual move, as aluminum, while lighter, is more susceptible to scratches. The new material could offer noticeable advantages for users, especially in terms of weight.
Glass element for MagSafe and Wireless
Despite the aluminum construction, a glass element is still installed on the back. This serves as a technical window for MagSafe, wireless charging, and possibly also for wireless data transfer. The casing is therefore not entirely made of metal, but follows a hybrid approach: aluminum meets glass – functionally separated.

Apple logo moves to the piece of glass
One of the most striking design features is the repositioned Apple logo. It's no longer in the center of the entire back, as usual, but is centered on the glass element, which in turn doesn't take up the entire back. The result: From a geometric perspective, the logo sits somewhat lower than usual. Many found this disconcerting at first, but thanks to the new glass division, the positioning makes technical sense.
Design decision with system
Even if the new logo position seems unusual at first glance, it's probably no coincidence. It marks the exact glass element that's crucial for wireless functionality. Whether this is just a visual gimmick or a hint of new technology inside remains to be seen. One thing is clear: Apple doesn't just want to change the design, but possibly also adapt it functionally.
Reliable leaks shortly before launch
Majin Bu, who first saw the new picture published is no stranger to the scene. Many of his previous leaks have turned out to be accurate. The quick confirmation by Sonny Dickson – also known for reliable Apple pre-release information – suggests that we're seeing a fairly realistic picture of the final design of the iPhone 17 Pro.
iPhone 17 Pro focuses on visible change
The iPhone 17 Pro features a new casing material, a two-piece back design with a glass element, and a repositioned Apple logo. These design changes are based on technical reasons, but they also significantly alter the look of the iPhone. Whether everyone will like this will become clear after the official launch in September. One thing is clear: anyone looking for an iPhone with a fresh look should keep an eye on the iPhone 17 Pro.
