Apple released an updated firmware for the MagSafe charger this evening that is compatible with the iPhone 12 and later and the AirPods Pro 2.
The new firmware has the version number 10M1821 while the previous version was 10M229. Note that you will see a different version number than the firmware number in the Settings app. There, the update will be shown as version 255.0.0.0 (the previous numbering is 247.0.0.0). The MagSafe charger was first released in fall 2020 along with the iPhone 12 models. This is the third firmware update Apple has made available so far.
MagSafe charger: New firmware could include optimizations for new devices
Since firmware updates are released in the background, Apple does not issue release notes. It therefore remains unclear what new features or bug fixes might be included in the software. However, given the recent release of the iPhone 14 models and the AirPods Pro 2, the firmware could contain optimizations for these devices. Regarding the MagSafe charger, there is also no clear method to update the firmware. However, it must be plugged in and connected to an Apple device in order for a firmware update to be performed. You can check the firmware of your MagSafe charger yourself at any time. You can find out how it all works below. You don't have a MagSafe charger yet? Then take a look at Amazon - there you will find both models discounted. (Photo by Eremin / Bigstockphoto)
