Apple announced last year that it would direct 100 percent of eligible proceeds from (PRODUCT)RED purchases to the Global Fund's COVID-19 response through June 30, 2021, to support "health systems most vulnerable to the outbreak" in sub-Saharan Africa. Now, the company has extended the deadline to December 30, 2021.
Apple began its partnership with (RED) in 2006 with the ultimate goal of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. The partnership includes several different projects, including Apple-supported grants and more than $250 million in donations to the Global Fund's HIV/AIDS programs that come from (PRODUCT)RED purchases.
(PRODUCT)RED: COVID-19 aid runs until December 30, 2021
Apple now offers a wide range of new (PRODUCT)RED devices and accessories, including iPhone 12 (PRODUCT)RED, iPhone 12 mini (PRODUCT)RED, and Apple Watch Series 6 (PRODUCT)RED. There are also a range of cases, such as the company's leather and silicone MagSafe Cases. Through December 30, all proceeds from these purchases will go to the Global Fund's COVID-19 relief effort.
