Belarus, Minsk - July 13, 2020: Apple Inc. product design Space gray Macbook Pro . New technology.

If rumors are to be believed, Apple will be introducing a MacBook Pro in a brand new design with 14- and 16-inch display sizes this year. The devices are expected to be equipped with a significantly better display.

Apple yesterday unveiled a brand new 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a Liquid Retina XDR display that uses a miniLED backlight to achieve brightness of up to 1,000 nits in full screen and up to 1,600 nits at peak. With over 10,000 mini-LEDs grouped in more than 2,500 local dimming zones, the display also has an impressive contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. Apple has so far referred to miniLED displays as "XDR" displays, short for "Extreme Dynamic Range." Rumor has it that the same technology will be used in the MacBook Pro.

MacBook Pro with XDR display: Rumors suggest many changes

Well reported Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce reports that Apple plans to introduce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with XDR displays (mini LEDs) in the second half of 2021. This report is in line with previous statements. In addition, the devices are expected to get an SD card slot, an HDMI port and a MagSafe connector. However, the Touch Bar is to be eliminated as part of the update. As far as the processor is concerned, both models will have an Apple Silicon chip. However, it is not known when exactly Apple plans to unveil the new notebook generation. (Photo by Yurolaitsalbert / Bigstockphoto)
