Will Microsoft offer Xbox Game Pass and therefore xCloud for iOS and iPadOS or not? According to reports, the answer is yes.

If it were up to Microsoft, xCloud or Xbox Game Pass would already be available for iOS and iPadOS. But Apple's guidelines don't make it easy for the company. Now reported Business Insider said the decision is final. Microsoft's vice president of gaming, Phil Spencer, told employees that the company still intends to enable Game Pass streaming on the iPhone and iPad. Project xCloud was the title of Microsoft's cloud streaming service Game Pass, which it said is the "vision for a game streaming technology that complements our console hardware and gives gamers more choice in how and where they play." The streaming service is available as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and has more than 100 titles.

Xbox Game Pass for iOS: Microsoft is determined

Despite extensive testing via TestFlight for iOS, the launch of xCloud on the iPhone and iPad was postponed indefinitely in August. The reason for this is Apple's App Store guidelines. Game Pass streaming would only be practical if each game was available as a separate app according to Apple's rules. But that's not the point. Microsoft is not letting this discourage it, however, and already has a solution in mind. Spencer is said to have said in a meeting that the service will definitely be available for iOS and iPadOS. Business Insider claims to have learned this. According to the report, the company is pursuing a browser-based solution to circumvent Apple's policy and the associated restrictions. However, this will no longer be the case this year. According to the source, the launch is planned for sometime in 2021. (Image: Microsoft)
