Will Apple unveil SiriOS at WWDC 2020?

What could SiriOS be? This is the question that many fans and observers are currently asking. According to a new report, Apple could present SiriOS as early as next year at WWDC.

The WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) is usually reserved for software topics. Alongside iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, SiriOS is set to be unveiled next year. At least, that's the belief of Mangrove Capital Partners, a venture capital firm from Luxembourg. SiriOS is also discussed in its report on speech recognition and digital assistants. A presentation of the software is expected as early as 2020. However, there aren't many details on this topic. According to the investment firm, we can generally expect greater development in speech recognition based on artificial intelligence and machine learning over the next ten years. This should achieve word accuracy of more than 95 percent—meaning speech comprehension on par with humans. According to the report, communication between humans and machines will be "far more natural, convenient, and efficient."

SiriOS as independent software

The improvements in AI will give future voice assistants significantly more capabilities in the first step - decision-making will also be improved in the second step. In the third stage of development, automated data collection using sensors for more complex processes can also be expected. But what will Apple offer us? The answer is SiriOS - according to the Luxembourgers. What exactly the Siri operating system will contain was not commented on. However, it should be able to compete better with Amazon's Alexa Skills Kit, as Apple reportedly wants to completely convert Siri into its own operating system - this would practically make SiriOS an independent software and open up new possibilities. If that were the case, future Siri functions and changes could be implemented on Apple's devices at the same time. Developers could also benefit significantly from SiriOS, as they would be freed from existing SiriKit restrictions - according to the report. Whether such software can generally be expected from Apple remains questionable, of course - and the question of whether SiriOS will be introduced next year will remain open for the time being. 3 months Kindle Unlimited membership for 0.00€ – only for a limited time (Photo by Unsplash)
