Apple plans to introduce four new twelfth-generation iPhone models this fall. Now there are new details about the top model - the supposed iPhone 12 Pro Max.

At the end of last year, DigiTimes reported that the high-end model of the iPhone 12 series would receive a sensor-based stabilization system. At the time, no details were given. Now the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken out and revealed details. According to him, the top model - the supposed iPhone 12 Pro Max - will receive a camera module that is equipped with a new and, above all, larger sensor as well as sensor shift stabilization.

The larger the sensor, the less noise in the image

The topic of "sensor-based stabilization" in the iPhone is not new, but for the first time it is more concrete. If the analyst is right with this prediction, we can expect a much more reliable and stable image. This would also benefit the ultra-wide-angle lens, which does not have optical image stabilization in the current generation of devices. But the overall larger image sensor could make the biggest difference in image quality here. This is because a larger sensor can capture more light, which leads to improved performance in low light. Images with reduced noise should therefore be the norm. Kuo emphasizes that this technology will only be reserved for the top model in 2020 - an expansion to other iPhone devices is not expected until 2021 at the earliest.
