Turku - Finland, May 10, 2021: New iPhone 13 pro max inside a box lying on a dark gray table. Action. Close up of unpacking new smartphone by male hands.

The world of technology never stands still, and Apple is known for being at the forefront of innovation. A recent supply chain report reveals that the upcoming iPhone 16 could bring some impressive changes. In particular, the bezels of the iPhone are expected to shrink while the screen size increases. This development promises an exciting change for the user experience and design of the popular smartphone line.

The rumor mill is churning, and the details that have leaked from supply chain reports are making tech enthusiasts' hearts beat faster. With larger screens and narrower bezels, the iPhone 16 could be a milestone in iPhone history (via 9to5mac).

Larger screens

Speculations about larger displays in the iPhone 16 were first fueled by CAD models that surfaced last year. These models showed impressive growth in the screen, especially on the Pro Max model. With a likely 6.9-inch screen for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple seems to be banking on an expanded user experience. Despite this size change, the company aims to keep the form factor as slim as possible to ensure ease of use.

iPhone 16: Narrower bezels

Another exciting development concerns the iPhone's bezels. Thanks to a new technology in Apple's display supply chain, the iPhone 16's bezels could shrink further. The Border Reduction Structure (BRS) is expected to be implemented in all four models of the iPhone 16, which could result in a nearly bezel-less experience. While there have been challenges such as cables overheating, these obstacles seem to have been successfully overcome, pointing to an exciting future for iPhone design.

Face ID under the display is still a long way off

A long-term goal of Apple is to hide all front-facing technology behind the display, including the Face ID module. Although speculation has surfaced that this could happen as early as 2026, for now this remains a future vision. Integrating Face ID under the display brings its own technical challenges, but it's a step towards the seamless, bezel-less design that Apple is aiming for.
