The world of smartphones never stands still, and Apple is not lagging behind. Exciting rumors are currently circulating about the upcoming iPhone 16. Jeff Pu, a respected analyst with insight into Apple's supply chain, has revealed exciting news.

The iPhone 16 has already caused a stir in advance, and there are good reasons for this. Jeff Pu, who has made accurate predictions in the past, suggests that Apple is planning an important change for its next smartphone release. The headline reads: The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus could be equipped with the brand new A18 chip, instead of the expected A16.

Cost-efficient and powerful

In a recent analysis, Jeff Pu (via MacRumors) that he expects all iPhone 16 models - including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max - to use the powerful A18 chip. This chip is to be manufactured in TSMC's impressive second-generation 3nm process "N3E". In comparison, the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro was still based on the first-generation 3nm process "N3B". Pu sees this as a transitional design that is now being replaced by the more advanced A18 chip. The specific expectations are as follows:

  • iPhone 16: A18 chip (N3E)
  • iPhone 16 Plus: A18 chip (N3E)
  • iPhone 16 Pro: A18 Pro Chip (N3E)
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: A18 Pro Chip (N3E)

According to TSMC, the N3E chip is not only more cost-effective but also has a better yield than its predecessor, the N3B. This could play an important role in Apple's decision to use the A18 chip in its next models.

Anticipation of the iPhone 16

The iPhone 16 has the potential to shake up the smartphone industry once again, and the prospect of the A18 chip is building anticipation. Although the official launch is still about 11 months away, expectations are high. However, it remains to be seen whether Apple will opt for the “A18” and “A18 Pro” branding or if other names will be chosen. Jeff Pu has made correct predictions in the past, but nothing is certain until Apple puts its cards on the table. In the meantime, we can look forward to more exciting innovations from Apple and eagerly await the upcoming announcements. Looking for new accessories?
